Professor Tuula Teeri as president of Aalto University
Professor Tuula Teeri, Ph.D., has been chosen as the first President of Aalto University. The Aalto University Foundation Board appointed Professor Teeri as President for a term of five years beginning 1 April 2009 in a meeting held on 19 December.Innovation in the transformation process
Aalto University’s transformation teams and working groups have enthusiastically spearheaded preparations for the new University. In addition to the identification and formulation of best practices, the transformation process involves innovation activities. According to Researcher Elina Moisio, who specialises in innovation, identifying the goals and enhancing motivation are particularly important in the innovation process.

The Student Unions of the Helsinki School of Economics (KY), the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TOKYO) and Helsinki University of Technology (TKY) have in their representative councils decided to hold elections in April 2009 for Aalto University Student Union Representative Council.
Staff mentoring at Aalto University
Aalto University’s first joint staff mentoring group held its opening seminar on November 5, 2008 at Otaniemi. The incentive was provided by the positive experiences from previous mentoring practices. The group includes a total of eighteen mentoring pairs. Ten of these pairs couple individuals hailing from different universities.
